Ah, Mazatlan!

Our courtyard with Virgin of Guadalupe

We have started packing! I can’t believe how well it is going, too. I have packed two boxes of books, one of kitchen things, and one of vases & breakables. I can see one more box of bathroom things, one more kitchen box, and another for our home office. All of our clothes and bedding is going in plastic bags in the car top cargo box.

It feels so real now that the place is strewn with packing materials and things that didn’t make the cut.

This morning we were talking about buying bedding for the master bedroom before we head down – and we plan on having a king size bed for the first time ever! We decided we will have a cool color – something blue. We may head out this afternoon and look for some bedding just to torture ourselves further…

And then, this morning I got an email from my sister in the Bay Area telling me about an article on Mazatlan in the Sunday paper. It’s all about the revival of Mazatlan’s centro and made me want to be there right now!

Share and Enjoy !

    1. I brought bedding down too but if you have a Costco near you in Mazatlan, they carry a good quality of linens…towels and sheets. Not the luxury kind but very serviceable. However, you might not find a cool blue.

Also something else kind of weird that we ran into is that Mexican double and queen beds are usually 75″ long rather than 80″ long like we have in the USA. So watch the size of your sheets. Costco carried USA brand mattresses but they were 75″ long. We found some very good Mexican mattresses that were made for the USA that were 80″ long. Confusing? Yes, but I just wanted to make you aware of the differences in sizes.

I elected to only use white sheets here in SMA because colors fad so badly here. I don’t know what is in the water or the Mexican brands of detergent but it is a problem. It may not be a problem in Matz.

Oh, one other thing. I don’t like most Mexican pillows and I’ve never seen any down pillows here except at Costco. So that might be something you might want to stuff in somewhere.

I’m getting so excited for you. You are almost here!
