Summer does grind on in Mazatlán…

Here we are, finally.  The end of September.  Rainy.  Hot.  Humid. And there’s more than a month to go.  Rainy season usually ends in the first week of November. We’ve had two huge rains this season – one about 10 inches and one more than 11. (That’s from my unofficial bucket rain gauge.) October is the tough month.  You’ve just had enough. Last year we went to Mexico City for two weeks, and this year we are heading to Ajijic....

The 5:2 Diet Update

A while back I had promised to update you on how it was going with the 5:2 diet. If you’re not familiar with it, it is a way of eating where for two non-consecutive you almost fast.  (Women eat 500 calories, and Men, 600) That’s about a quarter of our normal caloric intake. Then for the other five days of the week you eat normally. This eating strategy has lots of health benefits, you can read more about it here....

Setting up a new Mac is Easy with Time Machine

Five years ago I bought my first Mac, a MacBook laptop. Since then Paul switched from Windows to a Mac desktop computer – an iMac, and we both have had iPods, iPads, and I have an iPhone. You could say we are now pretty close to Mac diehards with the exception of Paul’s Android phone. My laptop has been a real workhorse, and has been no trouble over the years. I upgraded its RAM from 2 to 4GB one time...

What do you do in a long Mazatlán summer?

  Well, it depends if you’re a dog or a human.  At the top of this post you’ll see Coco looking out at the rain.  The last few days she’s done that a lot, too!  We received nine and a half inches in two days recently, and the proof is in the bucket left outside, below.   But while Coco was looking out at the rain, her humans were collecting wet towels and mopping here and there.  Every big rainstorm...

Every story has a picture, or maybe every picture has a story? The picture above is at the newly remodeled Plazuela Zaragoza. That’s a story, though… because the demolition and the first part of the work there was done a couple of years ago.
