Summer sunset

August 5, 2009

Paul and I ate dinner at  a restaurant on the malecon at Olas Altas the other night, and I took a lot of pictures of the sunset, as it went on and on for probably more than an hour.  But don’t worry, I’m just sharing one!

More about Nancy

I'm Nancy, a US expat living in San Antonio Tlayacapan, Jalisco after 11 years in Mazatlán, México.

    1. The sunsets this time of year are answer enough for why we choose to live on the Mexican Pacific coast. We had a red sunset tonight. I think I know why. The heat index got up to 117: the sky was melting.

    1. Nancy,

Thank you for linking to my blogs and I’m glad that you’ve enjoyed reading them.

That is a beautiful sunset. Living here in Chapala, we too get some amazing sunsets in shades of red, pink, purple and blue.

Mazatlan is one place I’d still like to visit, but will have to wait until both my boys are a little older for the longer drive. When would you say is the best time of the year to go?

    1. Hi Nancy! We’re considering a weekend trip to Mazatlan from the DF, the last weekend in August. Last year we went to Puerto Vallarta and it RAINED the whole time — does Mazatlan get less rain…I don’t mind a little rain.

(We’ve got a free night at the Holiday Inn, and from what I can tell, people love it there…)

    1. Joy,

I hope you do decide to come, Mazatlan is really a unique place. It might rain while you are here, but usually it is two or three hours at night, sometimes with thunder and lightning. We very seldom get rain during the day, maybe only twice in the two years we’ve been here. And even the rain at night is usually like every 10 days.

The Holiday Inn has a good reputation, I haven’t been in it though. It should have nice beach access. You’d be in the Zona Dorada, so along with hotels you will have all the usual tourist stuff like artesanias shops and restaurants and Señor Frogs.

If you do decide to come, email me and I can make some recommendations for restaurants and night spots, etc. You’ll love Centro, and I would love to have you guys over for a glass of wine. ndardarian at gmail dot com
