The weather is perfect here in Mazatlan. Perfect for growing vegetables. Perfect for exercising outdoors. Perfect for dogs to have fun roughhousing. Perfect for pretty much everything. At the top of this post is a collage from the Organic Market. We love heading over there when they open for first pick of all the great treats and produce. Today my lucky finds include sweet cherry tomatoes, kale, green beans, basil and micro-greens. Last week I bought a new tee shirt and some gorgeous gigantic tropical flowers.
Our dogs love the cooler weather, too. They get a lot more walks and spend a fair bit of every day roughhousing, something that NEVER happens in the summer. That’s them, above, wearing their new fancy collars from Casa Etnika.
Paul and I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary last week, kicking off the day with a great breakfast at the newly repaired (thanks to damage from Hurricane Norbert) Surf’s Up Cafe. We had a great breakfast and enjoyed looking at the water. That’s it, above. After a great lazy day we went out to Water’s Edge for another good meal. We know we’re very lucky… and keeping up our tradition of buying something together for our special occasions we bought a new piece art (from Look), the work below by Mazatlán artist Carlos Zeta, below.
Also at home our opportunistic geckos have resumed waiting for bugs in the patio light fixture. They’re always amusing.
My garden continues to do well, and the beans are getting ready to bloom! I need to figure out some sort of trellising arrangement for the beans and peas (even though they are bush varieties) and create some sort of tee shirt slings for when I get some watermelons going. I’m ever the optimist, can you tell?
The malecón’s restoration is proceeding, with the work about halfway done it seems. The picture below is taken near the Miramar Condos, can you see those new palm trees marching North? Pretty cool. This weekend is the Marathon so no work happened for the last couple of days as they prepared for the race. Tonight is a big fireworks show and tomorrow there will be Banda from one end of the race route to the other. Traffic has come to a standstill, predictably. But I’m not complaining, life is good in Mazatlán and I appreciate every minute of it.

December 2, 2014Congratulations on the anniversary!!! I’m very happy for you both, and not just a smidgen envious of your spot there in Mazatlán. Though it’d be too hot for me in the summer, it looks perfect now. Here? We are starting to get some cold days (below freezing), and some wet snow, but so far not tooooooo bad. But worse is yet to come.
