Mazatlán’s oldest church, Templo de San José suffered the loss of its front wall last summer during one torrential rainstorm where we received 9 inches of rain in one day. It has been undergoing repairs for the last 6 months, I think. Finally, the work is complete and it looks wonderful. Especially for a building in this climate constructed beginning in 1831!

September 13, 2012Thank you for the pictures of San Jose – it is indeed very beautiful. I see the gate is open but never seem to catch the church open although DH reminded me that we did see inside many years ago. Would love to have a repeat of that!

September 14, 2012Sandy, The church has regular services and is regularly used for weddings and funerals. I haven’t been inside – one of these days, maybe!

September 29, 2012We haven’t been in Maz for several years now, but when we were there before we often went to musical performances there. Lovely old church and I am so pleased that the wall has been repaired. Look great. Kate
