Flamenco in Mazatlán

November 13, 2011

Friday night we headed out with friends for dinner and a flamenco performance at La Bohemia Restaurant in the Plazuela Machado.

I’d read about Citlali Iglesias and her Flamenco dance company, and since the La Bohemia had just reopened, it was a perfect time to try out their food and enjoy the perfomance.

La Bohemia’s food was very good. The men had arrachera (a grilled flank steak served with green onions and mashed potatoes,) and the women had eggplant ravioli and a vegetable pizza.  Everything was very good and I know we’ll be going back.  Eating outside on the Plazuela is always nice, of course!

We had a table reserved inside for the performance – but should I call it inside?  La Bohemia is a restaurant inside a “ruin” but with modern kitchen and bathrooms, of course!  I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but it is a perfect venue to watch flamenco under a full moon.

The venue was a bit too dark for my videos to be enjoyable, but the show was fantastic.  They are an extremely talented group, and not just in dance, but their singing, guitar playing, and clapping, too.

I feel like such a lucky person to be living my life right now.  I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else in the world.

Share and Enjoy !

    1. That looks so incredible! I would love to see them when we come for our annual visit next month. How often do they perform? Any chance I’ll get to see them in December?

      1. Kelly, you would love them! But I don’t know their schedule, sorry.

    1. I remember your comments on La Bohemia last year, we will have to try it this time. Do you remember that about a year ago you were considering giving up your blog and just going with Facebook? Look at you now !

    1. Finding out that La Bohemia was really going to reopen almost made me change my mind about moving…almost. That has to be one of my favorite venues; it is so,so, well…bohemian!
