Several months ago I received an email from Rebecca Klassen, a writer for Vogue Knitting. She was writing an article on México for the World section of their Holiday issue and asked if I’d be willing to talk. Por supuesto! Of course I would!
Rebecca had found me through the Ravelry group I started – <ahref=”http://www.ravelry.com/groups/english-speaking-knitters-in-mexico” target=”_blank”>English Speaking Knitters in Mexico – and wanted to hear about the knitting scene here in Mazatlán and about the gorgeous yarn I had bought in Oaxaca. She also talked to Cami, a fellow Ravelry knitter who blogs, knits, and leads a knitting group in Mexico City.
A copy is on its way to me in the mail, but I was too excited to see the article so I bought the issue for my iPad for $4.99. You can subscribe or buy one issue on the Vogue Knitting website.

November 9, 2011Congratulations! Isn’t amazing how our lives take these turns? Maybe you can organize a knitter’s tour of Oaxaca? that would be so very cool. It was so nice to get to talk to you and Paul when you were in Merida. Did you get your quinoa?
regards,
Theresa

November 9, 2011Thanks, Theresa! Yes, it’s crazy sometimes who life goes…who would have thought I’d be in Vogue Knitting? I wish I knew more about the Oaxacan wool, all I really know is that I love it!

November 9, 2011Well Done! Congratulations.
I recently hooked on to Pinterest where I saw a very cool knitted poncho/wrap type thing. I was going to send it to you – then when I finally linked back to its origins, just where do you think it came from – Ravelry, so guess you already have seen it! Should have known.
Congrats again

Debi, Thank you! Are you on Ravelry, too? There are a kajillion patterns, I couldn’t possibly have seen them all. I haven’t checked out Pinterest, I think I’d better!
Ingrid, Thanks so much, it will be great to knit with you again, that was a long summer!
Judith, Thanks, I am kind of stunned, actually.

Marty, Gracias!
Mary, Hmmm, this could be an idea someone could run with…
Ken, Thank you so much, it is pretty exciting especially since I am such a knitting nerd!
Contessa, Who knew the “third age” (as they say in Mexico) could be such fun? I love it!

November 10, 2011Congratulations on being mentioned in such a major publication – and to get one of your pictures in as well – many a professional photographer would probably envy that. Well deserved.

November 10, 2011Congrats Nancy! What don’t you do? Don’t answer that 🙂
I just don’t like that they mentioned Mazatlan as a small city. I guess it is all relative, to me, coming form the Isla it is huge!
