A couple of hours after arriving in México City we met our son and the family to go to the Día da de Los Muertos parade on Paseo de la Reforma.
I have never seen so many people dressed up as catrinas in one place! Children, dogs, entire families were dressed up with amazingly intricate face and body paint.
The three pictures at the top (you can arrow through them) are just a sampling of the thousands who participated. And as the sun went down it was beautiful to see El Ángel de la Independencia looking even more spectacular than usual.

October 23, 2017Actually, what you saw this past Saturday was not the Day of the Dead Parade, but the Parade of Alebrijes. Those colorful, bizarre animals being rolled down the street are called alebrijes. I was on Juarez Avenue watching it as it made its way to the Paseo de la Reforma. The Day of the Dead Parade will be held next Saturday, October 28th.

October 23, 2017We were not at the Saturday Alejbrijes parade but on Sunday for the parade of the catrinas. It was wonderful. Thanks so much for your comment and I hope you had as much fun on Saturday as we did on Sunday!

October 24, 2017Well, then that was yet another event, because the big Dia de los Muertos Parade is next Saturday. I’m looking forward to seeing it. Yes, the Alebrije Parade was great. I have seen the post-parade display of the alebrijes several times, but this was the first time I had actually seen the parade.
