Our First Days at Lake Chapala

June 18, 2018

We are moved in to our new place on Lake Chapala.  We love the house and are putting things away and getting organized. We haven’t explored the community much since we just got here, that will come.  So far our only expedition has been to Walmart for provisions and today we are going to Costco.

For any people reading this who are planning a move, please don’t use Castores Trucking unless you want a lot of heartburn!  It’s a long story that I don’t want to recount here but the office is obviously in disarray.  The workers we dealt with all were great, though.

Our new place has a nice fenced yard which the dogs love.  Much better than walking them on the dusty and noisy streets of Centro, too.

Our yard here has a huge weeping willow that is home to a nesting pair of yellow bellied sapsuckers!  How cool is that?  We also see lots of egrets, herons, swallows, and many more birds that are still unidentified. It is wonderful to wake to the sound of the birds, too.

It has rained several times since we’ve been here, and everything is lovely and green.

I will post again soon, hasta pronto!

      1. Hi Wendy, Paul and I both love an orderly house so it didn’t take it long to whip it into shape. It’s amazing how many little things require trips to the store, though. Good luck on your project this summer! xoxo Nancy

    1. There is a wonderful bird watching group in Ajijic/Chapala. Or there used to be. A friend who is an avid birder used to be a mainstay. Photos are lovely. I will email privately.
