A Couple Mazatlán Projects

September 6, 2015

There are a couple of projects going on in town that should be interesting to watch. Both are underway right now.

The first is a street improvement between the Plazuela Machado and Belisario Dominguez on Sixto Osuna. That’s a picture of it at the top of the post. As part of this project there will be a children’s park in the small street the other side of Panama Bakery and some posts that I guess will control traffic. (I sure wish they would get all of the endless parade of busses off Belisario Dominguez but I guess that would be too good to be true!) A couple more photos from this project are below.

The next project is a big one, and I’m a little worried about whether it will be successful or not. Once it’s complete it might earn the nickname “Little Rome” as I expect the traffic racing around it to be chaotic! But I should stay positive and hope that it all works out as the intersection at Valentino’s (Rafael Buelna and the malecón) is a complicated one. The picture is below.

    1. I really like the look of the first street improvement. The second looks like a CAT scan of my circulatory system. Even with the crosswalks, it looks like a pedestrian nightmare.

    1. That appears to be a “traffic circle” (as they are called in New Jersey) or a “round about (as they are called in Washington State. For people that aren’t familiar with them, they can be a nightmare. Otherwise, they are usually a great way to help with the flow of traffic. We now have 3 or 4 in our little town in Washington State.

    1. I’m feeling that the lights will be taken out? They work well in many places but oh oh oh I can’t see that being good news here!

      1. Thanks so much for your comments! I doubt lights will be taken out but you never know about things here…
