Paul and I went out for breakfast this morning at Surf’s Up Cafe on the beach in Nuevo Mazatlán. (Yes, it was amazingly delicious!) On our way home we decided to stop at the newly opened Galerías Mazatlan mall. The Liverpool store has been open for a while but the mall itself just opened November 8. The other anchor tenant, Sears, isn’t open yet.
The mall is a stylish two story mall that is all ready for Christmas. Poinsettias are everywhere, candy decorations hang from the ceiling, and the Santa lap sitting area is prepped and ready.
We were there not long after they opened at 11 and there were a fair number of people shopping, although you wouldn’t know it by the picture I took at the top of this post. The only puzzling thing to us was that you had to go into the Liverpool store to use their escalator to get to the second level of the mall. That seemed a bit strange to us.
The mall also has a new cinema that we’ve been told has VIP seating with food service. We haven’t tried it yet.
Outside the mall itself is the new Walmart that is still under construction. It looks like it’s close to being ready to open.
We’ve also heard that the new Cimaco has opened at the Gran Plaza Mall where they have substantially added on and remodeled the former Fabricas de Francia space… but we haven’t visited there yet.
In a grinch like statement I hope to stay out of these shopping meccas until Christmas is over!

November 25, 2013Susan, I’m sorry I don’t know. I imagine there is one, though. I kind of remember a discussion on it when Liverpool opened a few months ago on MazInfo.
