Exciting times!

Can you tell the dogs are excited about the move? (Lucy the lab mix & Henry the Schnoodle) I am heading back to Mazatlan on Monday – closing on our new house is scheduled for Tuesday!   We were talking to the current owner last night and he asked us if the dogs were excited, so I had to post the picture, above. They know SOMETHING is up, but they don’t know what.   So, I am flying on...

Decisions, decisions….

Paul and I have made a big decision this weekend. We’ve decided that the only things we’re going to bring with us are the things we can fit in our Honda mini-van. We bought a 21 cubic foot cargo box for the top and we are going to buy a 13 cubic foot cargo box for the back. The way-back seats fold into the floor but we are probably going to have to leave the two middle row seats...

We’ve done it!

Only one day after my planned listing date of May 15, our house is on the market! I can’t believe the day finally came.   The house still needs some small things done – like re-caulking the shower and some touch-up paint outside, but the big work is over. The place looks beautiful.   Now I just need to keep on top of the yard work and make sure the house is clean. That seems easy after the chaos...

Things to do in Mazatlan

There’s a lot to do and see in Mazatlan. We have only scratched the surface…but here are a few things we recommend doing when you are in Mazatlan: Enjoy the Plazuela Machado in the evening. This picture is from our last evening in Mazatlan, after dinner at about 10 pm on Friday. Families are strolling, kids are playing in the kiosko, lovers are kissing on the benches, and people are eating at the many restaurants.   Watch the sunset...

How the whole thing works

The view from the kitchen window. We got back to the US last night from our amazing trip to Mazatlan. The wood floors in our home here were refinished while we were gone, and they look wonderful. I just took a walk around the property, and everything is growing like crazy and looks wonderful. The floor people protected all the shelving and cabinets, but I will need to vacuum most of the floorboards and walls before we get started putting...

Oh, yeah!

The previous owner and the realtor watch while Nancy cuts off the Se Vende signs! The news is out! We have papers signed all around, and the transfer of the fidecomiso is in progress! We bought a wonderful old restored colonial-ish house in the centro in Mazatlan. The house is huge and amazing…we keep pinching ourselves that it will really be ours. The main floor is the original house, nicely redone. The upper floor was added, and has a great...

Wonderful

We just got back from a brisk early morning walk on the malecon. The air is fresh, the water and sky are blue. Fluffy clouds. Lots of people walking, smiling, greeting the morning. We aren’t ready to talk about our housing adventures – probably by tomorrow we will feel like we can, but not yet. I’m amazed that we slept last night. I am reading again, second book so far this trip. The last few weeks have been so busy...

Whew!

What a week this has been! The house is in total disarray and at times I feel like I am never going to get done….then Paul comes home and calms me down and shows me how much progress I’ve made. Last night I was close to meltdown and thankfully we went out for dinner. Afterwards I felt hopeful again. This week the handyman came and boxed in a beam in the basement. I caulked, and sanded, and primed. I sanded...
