Woo-hoo!

Check it out! We had a fabulous garage sale Saturday – in spite of the almost torrential rain. It was a crazy day. Since we are really motivated to get rid of stuff we priced everything quite low, and stuff flew out of here! It shocked both of us that we made $1,900! Crazy! We even were able to give away a bunch of rabbit cages in various states of disrepair, two broken lawnmowers, and old fence posts. I’m planning...

It’s coming together

It’s a big project to move out of the country…but things are proceeding pretty well. Just this week I realized that I’m not as tense as I was since more and more of my tasks are either completed or planned. Our garage sale is this weekend, and we have a pretty good feeling about how it will go. Our pet sitters and my hair stylist have passed the word, and I have put up advertisements and an ad in the...

What We’re Excited About

Paul and I are really looking forward to our new life in Mexico. Here are some of the things we are excited about: Warm, sunny weather A new house The change from a rural community to a city The adventure of learning a new language Time…with each other Meeting new people…making new friends Buying our fruits and vegies in the mercado Not working for the first time in 45 years (Paul) Long walks on the malecon before breakfast A healthy...

Things I’ll Miss and Things I Won’t

Picture of the bed next to the driveway, waiting for me to put wood chips on…tomorrow.   Things I’ll Miss Hours spent working outside, getting dirty Always having a plant to move from here to there Sitting on the bench watching the ducks on the pond Weed whacking My kitchen Plentiful vegetarian food in restaurants Honest exhaustion from manual labor outdoors Family living nearby The library Things I Won’t Miss Septic System Driving a half hour to do anything Snow...

Emotions are Running High

Paul and I talk about our upcoming move pretty much all the time. But yesterday was a day for talking about Mexico, for sure! In the morning we had a visit from Lise and Ken and their girls. They are Seattle-ites who are planning a six-month move to Mexico and are trying to figure out where they’ll go. It is an exciting time for them, and even though they are planning a temporary move and we are planning a permanent...

Nos Volveremos

Lucy and Henry don’t look too excited about it. We’re made our reservations to return to Mazatlan in early May. This time we are going to rent a car so that we can explore every nook and cranny of the city and the surrounding countryside. We’ll only be there a week, but we hope to make headway in locating a house for ourselves, the dogs Lucy and Henry, and our Yellow-Shouldered Amazon, Tiko. (his picture is below) All of...

Project Management is Hard.

As regular readers know, I am not working outside the home anymore, but am “project managing” our move to Mexico. I am a very organized person and I really like to work efficiently….but project managing is harder than I thought! The way I look at it is I need to work backwards from our desired result – which is to be moving to Mexico by September or October of this year. Pretty much all the work around the house needs...
